Meet the duo behind Indie Birth
We are mamas and birth workers who decided to do birth differently– and bring others along with us. We are kind, fun to work with, and great at (lovingly) calling people on their bullshit when necessary. With 11 children and 16 years of midwifery between us, we’ve learned a thing or two along the way, and Indie Birth is our space to share it all with you.

Yes!! Thank you for spreading the Truth!! :*
I was at the birth of my Granddaughter in the UK (I’m an Aussie) 7 years ago. We had done a crash course in Hypnobirthing by a wonderful Doula. She taught us about the harmful nature of vaginal exams. I was SO proud of my daughter in labour, every hour the MW asked to do a VE, & each time my daughter came out of her zone to say, No thankyou, then slip back into her zone. That calm natural birth led both my daughter and I to both go on to become Doulas and teach Hypnobirthing. It has been an amazing journey and we both have become natural birth proponents. My daughter Tamara has gone on to create a wonderful company with the program called The Wise Hippo. Please have a quick look at it on google.
This year, I am now promoting the word PASMO to describe a labour that goes backward, where cervical dilation decreases. Because, there is no English word to describe it. FTP can lead to PASMO. It’s the ancient survival technique of perceived danger and the labour shuts down, so PASMO is it, we women need to know this word! it happens so often, then women can’t articulate it – very frustrating!!
Please help to spread the word – PASMO.
I love your podcasts, and all the subjects that you cover. Happy days in 2015.& Blessings from Sandy.x
