  1. Dear Maryn, thank you so much for this podcast. I do realize it was recorded maybe about 3 years ago. But anyways, it was enlightening. I was present at you Instagram Live yesterday and this question of how to become an unlicensed midwife/ or TBA/ or an autonomous independent midwife is just tremendously at my core right now. i’mobsessed and cannot think of anythgin else right now…
We are moving to Los Angeles after having lived and worked as a doula in Malaysia for the past 5 years. Hospital birth is not for me. I’m done. And yes I have heard my calling to “walk with women”as a midwife. And yes I would simply love to take the Indie Birth Midwifery school course, but just can’t afford it right now.
So I’m like: what to do? Apparently apprenticeship is not well seen in California. Most licensed midwives I have reached out to have not been supporttive or even interested in me… I may end up living in Beverly Hills just because that’s where my husband is going to work and where the good public schools are in LA. I’m aware of the fact that we may have to squeeze our 6 butts in a small apartment. And that’s fine.
But anyways, I’m just tryign to figure out how I’m going to put myself out there. And train, and learn from women I admire and that share my vision of birth, of course… I’ll definetely keep listening to these podcasts and try to learn as much as I can before I set foot in the US. And trying to conncet with like-minded birth keepers from here so that when I’m there, I know who to look for…
Thank you again! Love you so much!

  2. Oh my gosh! I just had to listen to this again!… feeling so inspired by all these podcasts that you beautiful souls cannot imagined. Thank you so much for producing such quality materials and inspiring so many women across the globe to walk with women not only but mainly in their childbearing years.
