What a weird world it is we live in. I have been on a break from in person midwifery in 2022 so haven’t done a consultation for awhile, but I have one with a woman today who is considering hiring me as her midwife.

I’ve been ruminating on how different it feels. It isn’t that I’m rusty, but it is that midwifing is genuinely different than it was a few years ago, pre-CV19, and coming at it fresh after a short break is really highlighting that.

Women are stressed. I am stressed (#workingonit). I wanted to sign my kid up for figure skating lessons but the Covid BS on the home page sent me into freeze mode.

I haven’t updated my initial paperwork to include questions about whether someone has had the CV19 vaccine or not, or if they had gotten sick with Covid or not. And even when I get that info I sort of have no idea what to do with it. We have some info and anecdotal stories about how either the vax, the sickness, and also all the insane stress, social isolation and widespread division is impacting women and babies and birth itself, but honestly it still all sort of remains to be seen.

My point, if I have one, is that we really need to come together right now, and 13 Moons is our very best answer for mamas and their doulas and midwives (this makes your life so much easier, I promise). It will get you the info and also the support in our online community and virtual monthly support circles that you need in these weird times.
