We're Maryn + Margo

We are mamas and birth workers who decided to do birth differently– and bring others along with us. We are kind, fun to work with, and great at (lovingly) calling people on their bullshit. With 12 children and 20 years of midwifery between us, we’ve learned a thing or two along the way, and Indie Birth is our space to share it all with you.

We’ve gotten a ton of positive comments from the class, including this one:

“I am on week four and we purchased the course two weeks ago. I am 31 weeks. I feel like every pregnant woman should take this course over all other birthing classes. It’s about trusting yourself and your body, feeling empowered in the birthing process. So far all of my questions are answered and some I didn’t even know about!! I wish I had this resource three years ago with my first. I feel like now that I am educated and empowered I will be having an amazing healing birth this time around.”

Are You Willing to Tell Your Story?

Every person who is reading this has something they can share about their experience in the Indie Birth Community. So we’re asking you to take a few minutes and share what you’ve learned, received or experienced through your connection with Indie Birth. You can talk about anything, like the podcasts, or the articles, or the Wise Woman Circle or even the Conference.

By sharing your story, you are helping some woman, some place, some time, to discover the power that is inside her to give birth on her terms.

Hear what Cara had to say about her experience listening to the Taking Back Birth Podcasts. This is what we’re looking for. (Thanks Cara!):

Midwifery Skills Workshop in Sedona!

Join us in Sedona June 17-20, 2016 for our first ever Midwifery Skills Workshop!

We have thought long and hard about how to teach and convey our perspective on how to best serve women. During these 4 days of learning “skills,” having insightful conversations and connecting, we think you will leave with more under your belt that will help you become the type of midwife that you want to be; one that serves the family with intelligence, compassion, integrity and intuition.

Joining Maryn and Margo will be Ruth Goldberg, CNM and Diane Bajus, CNM. Both Ruth and Diane have many years of experience and will be teaching some skills from their perspective. Ruth is a nurse midwife at North Country in Flagstaff, Arizona, and Diane is a home birth midwife in Phoenix, Arizona.

We know this collaboration will be amazing, exciting and illuminating.

But we only have 4 spots left!

Student midwives, doulas, and anyone interested in learning is welcome to join us. Please, not-mobile-yet nursing babies only!!

Register for the workshop here.

Wise Woman Circle Updates

We’re excited to announce the next Wise Woman call on March 30, 2016 at 12 pm PST with Laura Shanley. During the call, Laura will be talking about how our beliefs shape our births. (Access instructions are in the Members’ Area).

If you’re not yet a member of the Wise Woman Circle, get an entire year of access for only $99!

New Podcasts and Posts

A new podcast and a great article for you!

First, a new article by Margo called, Shifting the Culture of Birth in Our Communities (some musings).

Next, a new episode of Taking Back Birth where I talk about the freebirth story of a woman who ignored “everyone” but herself.
