Meet the duo behind Indie Birth
We are mamas and midwives who decided to do birth differently– and bring others along with us. We are radical, fun to work with, and great at (lovingly) calling people on their bullshit to help move us all towards a new more beautiful world. With 12 children and over two decades of midwifery between us, we’ve learned a thing or two along the way, and Indie Birth is our space to share it all with you.

What yall are doing is awsome….
Thank you for sharing this! This birth story really resonated with my own first birth of my baby boy (now 5 years old) that lasted 5 hours since it started with my waters breaking .. and starting very intense right away. And experienced also this ejection reflex when pushing. And laughing when Sarah recalls the same thought I had at one time while birthing, that I didn’t even want to think how far ahead I was, as maybe this would be like this for several hours, and maybe I wasn’t that far along. Mine wasn’t a freebirth, only for the first 3 hours, and the midwife arrived for the last two, still I felt very alone (in my births so far I don’t feel like anyone even “touching” me, just entering my cave in order to go thru the process) and undisturbed 🙂 only at one point the midwife suggested I move from position when I had started pushing (I was in all 4s), and between the options that were in the room, either hanging from a cloth or sitting on a birthing stool, going to the birthing stool seemed more doable, I wanted to move the least from my “zone” .. I wonder if in a “freebirth”, what would have happened had I stayed in that position ..
