Midwives have long had techniques for preventing and handling excess blood loss after birth, but due to poor nutrition and commonplace intervention, postpartum hemorrhage has become a feared and misunderstood complication, and a leading cause of maternal death worldwide. It is assumed that it postpartum hemorrhage is common, and that there is nothing to do to prevent or treat besides the use of pharmaceuticals. This course will return the conversation to time honored midwifery techniques while also looking at how we can utilize new tools and technologies in a sacred way. You will learn about the science and art of manifesting an undisturbed third stage, and working with clients who want to reclaim this part of the birth process.
