This happened to my cousin. She just had her first baby in like 5 hours. Her midwife didn’t believe she was in labor so my cousin had her baby in the birth center parking lot before the midwife arrived.
About there not being enough midwives, in my situation, there are plenty of midwives but the laws restrict them from attending me in idaho due to my 3 cesareans. I have to travel almost 2 hours to Washington so I can have a vbac with a midwife.
Interesting caregiver perspective. My first labor was 3 hours! I would have loved to hear some advice too for moms who do find themselves in the situation of a fast labor
My first was something under 6 hours. The midwife came about an hour after the birth. I didn’t call her in time because I got lost in my world early in the labour and I couldnt tell how much time has passed at what point. My second was under an hour (my waters broke in the evening with zero contractions and I went to sleep, woke up in the morning and gave birth). This time I didn’t call on purpose because I wanted to be undisturbed. I did say to my midwife that I dont need her until I have the baby when we met for the first time, but I dont think she took me seriously. She came about half an hour after the birth. All was well both times 🙂
