The SOVEREIGN BIRTH BLUEPRINT

This podcast is for a specific group of people, although anyone is invited to listen and share! This podcast is for women planning a home birth for the first time! To be clear; that is not someone that is planning their first birth, but rather for women that have experienced one or more medicalized births and are now dreaming of or planning a home birth.

This is possibly my favorite group of people to serve, educate and support because they are usually so open and ready for change. I was one of these women almost 14 years ago. After a hospital birth with my first, I jumped in with my 2nd to planning a home birth and so I am well acquainted with many of the topics and issues that seem to come up for most people.

I hope this podcast helps bring awareness to some things to consider, and mostly I hope it helps encourage those that are in this boat! So many of the issues and feelings are normal as we begin to claim our own power. Processing our last birth, processing our fears and patterns are just an expected part of taking the home birth journey. And of course there are just obvious differences between midwifery care and mainstream medical care, so come along on this podcast journey with me!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this podcast!! I feel like your story of your first medicalized birth was so eerily similar to my first birth, which ended up being a medicalized birth even after planning a home birth with a licensed midwife. You put it so perfectly when you said many women end up feeling like they were baited and switched! I feel exactly like this.. I had some bleeding at 37 weeks after being given some birth prep herbs by my midwife, that I now feel may have caused the bleeding. Of course, I went to the hospital for testing and was admitted for a placental abruption and induced that same day. I luckily ended up being able to deliver vaginally, even after all the drugs, but I left feeling so disappointed by the whole experience. I am pregnant now and found a midwife who is so much more open to listening to women’s bodies and does not follow state rules for birth or recommend any kind of herbs or interventions to “help” with birth. I feel that it is so much more in line with what I really wanted the first time and am grateful to have realized this the second time around. Again thank you for sharing your story and this podcast because it really spoke to me on so many levels!

    Much love,

    Lindsey
